Themes in Vibe 25.2
AQUASAUR
Somewhere, halfway between the ancestral past and visions of the forth-coming Jurassic age. Focus is given to river sports, from classic kayaking or canoeing, to water rafting, but also paddle-boarding, with the aim of re-discovering a full immersion in nature with references from the past, even prehistoric, revisited in a contemporary version.
ARCADE
Sport as a somewhat nostalgic videogame that recalls the 80's Game Arcade. The reference to gaming culture begins with the spread and success of street dance, hip-hop culture and skateboarding. The virtual and real worlds tend to merge and exchange information through colours and surface effects, while the spaces intended for sporting activity take on more playful and creative features.
MONOLITH
Futuristic and robotic hints mitigated by the use of a neutral gilded range.
It evokes far-away worlds such as the planet Arrakis whose archaic sandy surfaces are linked to hyper-technological and sci-fi design. Barbarian and futuristic features blending together. Robotic details, visible mechanisms, mechanical constructions with a vague steampunk flavour. Contrasts of elastic elements and mechanical-looking 3D details. Reclining, folding, transformable design.
URANUS
A near future world in which the intervention of Artificial Intelligence contributes to generating highly innovative and experimental design. The vision of space as a new frontier of exploration, but also as a strongly inspirational element for contemporary design. Inflatable elements, real or virtual, with aero-dynamic and spatial design. Sportswear is enriched with overtly precious details to become a hybrid of sport, dance and entertainment.
METAFLORA
The historical hippies’ dream-like and psychedelic world meets a new interpretation through infinite possibilities in a digital world. Evocations of Flower Power culture and universal folklore revisited in a futurist version, with a strong ironic and experimental connotation. An optimistic, positive, inclusive and genderless range of floral colours. A surreal and psychedelic mood is deeply influenced by global folklore and re-interpreted in an experimental way.
2.000-2.0
Twenty years into the millennium, the influence of Y2K Design is beginning to be felt in various aspects of design. The twenty-year trend cycle is having its effect and new generations of consumers are ready to re-discover the obsessions of the 3rd Millennium’s first decade. A vaguely nostalgic design, which also is inspired by details of the Space Age and 70's. Sport as a new safe-haven. Luxury brands incorporate sports items, as it already happened with Jean Patou in the 1930s, to make them collectors' items, easily re-sellable in the re-sale market.
SPECTRE
In a world tending towards classicism, sports design reacts by giving itself a more extreme, but also elusive, playful, toy-like, sometimes regressive identity. Design items as sculptures with perforated, honeycombed,
spherical, composite surfaces. Objects, accessories and tools become collectors' items, charged with more personality and uniqueness to the point of making them desirable and coveted as art-objects. The use of colours emphasising shapes, volumes and construction of the designed object.
GOTHAM
The civil rights activism theme has strongly characterised the last decade of the new millennium, a topic that continues to be extremely present and to influence the contemporary society spirit and ethics. A ready to fight attitude towards major issues such as inclusiveness and global respect is present. Aesthetically, the theme is expressed through dark colours and the strongly symbolic use of black. Materials with a solid, high-performance and resilient look is integrating technological elements, even retro, clearly visible in the silhouettes and items.
